the only soldier who can blow you away from muthafuckin' ORBIT! suck on that, sniper elite guy! you ain't got shit on this dude! though i can't think of a single instance where an 'orbital sniper' would be of any use.

Depends on the side of the weapon. If it is a huge one, it can kill with great accuracy some evil people/rebels/outlaws

nah. Guided ammunition. Of course, even with guidance, I rekon one will still have to at least put the projectile in the right general direction; similar to how rail guns might be deployed in the near future: fired indirectly and steered at the target while falling (still at breakneck speeds)

Im sorry, but do you realize the amount of accuracy you would have to be spine people from orbit?

Amazingly impossibly badass accuracy.

Pretty sure by that stage in technological advancement the projectiles would have guidance to its target.

That's a pretty interesting concept, I mean, we have all heard of orbital strike lasers/cannons/whatevers, but I have never heard, nor thought about orbital snipers, and suited human orbital snipers at that. Even the concept of this is refreshing, keep up the great work!

BioWare could do it. Bioware has pulled off massive RPG's before with a lot of detail in it, I feel like they could be the only ones that could pull it off.

Orbital Sniper? He is going to hate calculating shoot trajectory, wind, debris, speed, gravity, coreollues effect, and sun light.

well, he's not orbiting Earth...

Orbiting is universal, doesn't matter wither he is orbiting an asteroid or a planet the size of Jupiter.
Reply
:icongrafight:

The mass of the planet, the composition of the atmosphere if any, magnetic fields if any, weather patterns and other factors could make either much easier or much more difficult to hit a target from orbit.
I agree that a human sitting up there would be impractical, compared to an automated system, but the rule of cool applies.

Sun light...?

:iconaspiringshadowseer:

Surprisingly yes, sun light does actually have a slight affect on bullets fired at distant targets. Also I was wondering, does this orbital sniper actual shoot targets in space? Or does he shoot targets that are planet side? Was curious as that wasn't specified.

Sun light doesn't effect bullet trajectory, it was probably just a typo

Also, you spelled coriolis wrong

Both of you are right. Sunlight doesn't have a direct impact on rounds under a certain distance, however, the rays of the sun carry energy none the less. This energy has an impact on bullet ballistics, though are technically negligible in most cases compared to round composition, bullet speed, barrel rifling, round deformation, conical angle, and ballistic discharge.

Also Shadowseer, I think he's multi-purpose. That's why it wasn't specified.

Great art man, wish I was half this good!

Well, you have to admit, a shot into the vacuum of space is much simpler than a straight shot to a specific target on the planet you are orbiting. That's why I was asking. Cause one, it determines what kind of marksman you are dealing with, two how well he can hit you, and not mention what kinda of rifle he is using to do that particular kind of marksmanship. Shooting at targets in space does't require high tech or high powered rifles. Shooting at something planet side requires a much larger weapon and many high tech firing aids.
