I am SO not trying to be a jerk - because there is some incredible detail in the volcano and cloudwork - but it looks like the treebark was the part you skimped out on... I know, right? I am a picky bastard... But that was the first thing I noticed - with so much amazing detail in the rest of it, I thought it was possible that this was a copied physical painting that was retouched.
HOWEVER, nice work. How fast does a 'speed paint' take for you? In any case, where can I learn to use a tablet and illustration programs to get this good at digital media? I have been mouse-oriented for so long, but was a fine artist before I got into graphic design - so I am excited about my upcoming tablet! I expect I will eventually be able to put up pieces like this one some day, if I stick to it... Any recommendations on resources or tips/tricks?
I feel as if the man in the picture is holding in his emotions, but the volcano in the background is exploding all of the built up rage for him. I find this deeply symbolic. A nice wide range of emotion and detail.
Speed paint?! I must say this is really one amazingly detailed piece with great depth and environment! I am really taken back by the realism in this and for a speed painting, this is just nuts!! Superb work!
Whoa! That's pretty cool! did you use a image for the mountains? As those surely can't be drawn quickly like that. But that looks sick, truly great! Though, the tree's and bushes closest to the viewer could have more contrast.
